Bartercrats internet website, mobile apps and associated services shall be referred to as Bartercrats portal or Bartercrats services in this document. By using Bartercrats services, you indicate your understanding of these terms and agree to be bound by these conditions. If you disagree with any of the terms stated herein, please refrain from using this platform. The use of the terms ‘you’ and ‘your’ shall refer to any persons who use the Bartercrats portal or any related services. It is your sole responsibility to familiarize yourself with the contents of these terms of use and any subsequent updates that are made to it. A user of Bartercrat’s services may be referred to as a ‘Bartercrat’ which means individuals who believe in trade by barter and willingly register to become members of the Bartercrats community.

Bartercrats internet website, mobile apps and associated services shall be referred to as Bartercrats Portal in this document.

Bartercrats Limited’s mission is to work with members to convert their unwanted assets, waste (by-product), spare capacity and idle resources to wealth. It is an online e-commerce marketplace for any community of individuals who agree with others within their city, residential estate, company, village, worship centre or social club, to trade by barter, or to swap or exchange goods and services for Bartercarts Reward Points (BRP) or for similar goods or services. Goods and services exchange may be done in person, but exchange centres will also be available in strategic locations for smooth exchange of goods. Bartercrats is a limited liability company registered in Nigeria as Bartercrats Limited with registration no RC 1430960.

Bartercrats Limited’s aim is to offer our customers a convenient, safe and ‘easy to use’ platform to barter, swap or exchange goods and services, and to find good deals online. To achieve our aim, it is expected of Bartercrats’ services users to follow some rules.

• Anyone can register as user, but they must be older than eighteen (18) years to complete a business deal on the Bartercrats portal.

• Only one account is allowed per person.

• Personal contact details or links to other websites will not be allowed anywhere on the portal (and especially in the goods or service title or description). Description of goods or services must be in English language; subtitles in a local language may be allowed (with authorization from the Bartercats Limited) if the target audience is localised.

• Only clear and accurate photos, pictures or images will be published. The photo, pictures or images must be that of the goods or services a user wishes to offer or advertise for exchange or swap. JPG, JPEG or PNG Image format are acceptable.

• Select the category (goods, services, Barter, jobs etc.) that best describes what you are offering or advertising (i.e. the category which may give your goods or services the best exposure). Note that the category you select may affect the commission or fee you will pay.

• Prohibited goods or services are not allowed and will not be approved for advertisement or publication on the Bartercrats portal. Prohibited items are goods or services that are regulated by law, which are goods or services that are not allowed to be sold to people without a certain license; only legal goods and services can be listed or advertised on the Bartercrats portal. A user can only list or advertise goods and services for which he/she has evidence of ownership. It is the Offeror’s responsibility to ensure that goods and services offered are legal and that they can prove ownership if required. Please check the frequently asked questions (FAQs) for more information on categories of prohibited items.

• Any user who breaks the Batercrats users’ rules will be barred from using the Bartercrats services. You can find out more on the Bartercrats terms of service and FAQs.


These rules may change at any time without notice. It is the user’s responsibility to study and comply with the latest rules. Description of service and content policy


Bartercrats provides a platform for users who can benefit from one another and is not interested in any contract made between users. Bartercrats does not have possession of anything listed or any services listed/advertised on our website or apps. Any agreement made between Bartercrats portal users is solely between the users. Bartercrats provides guidelines for users to have the best experience and properly utilise our services. Bartercrats does not have any control and cannot guarantee the existence, quality, safety and legality of listing services displayed by users; nor the ability of users to fulfil any contract they have agreed on. Bartercrats is not responsible for any advertisements, business listings/information, and communication between users or third-party website, user postings, media made available through the website. By using Bartercrats, users acknowledge the risk associated and Bartercrats is not liable in any way for any loss or damage incurred through use of the website.

Users of Bartercrats service are responsible for adhering to appropriate conduct. Illegal, obscene, abusive, threatening, defamatory, invasion of privacy and/or infringement of intellectual property rights will not be tolerated. The use of false details, impersonation or misleading behaviour is prohibited. We reserve the right to terminate user account that we deem to be in breach of any applicable laws, these Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

We take every measure to ensure the website/portal operates error-free, although this cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of the internet. Your access to our website/portal, account and profile may occasionally be suspended or restricted to allow for essential repairs, maintenance, or the implementation of new facilities.
Bartercrats will not be responsible for;
(i) losses due to breaches not on our part, or
(ii) any business loss (including loss of profits, revenue, contracts, goodwill or wasted expenditure), or
(iii) unforeseeable indirect or consequential losses due to using our services. Bartercrats will not be held responsible for any delay or failure to adhere with our requirements under our stated conditions.

The terms of use stated constitutes of the exclusive understanding and agreement between you and Bartercrats, thereby governing your use of our services. These terms supersede any prior understanding, agreement, discussions, which are written or otherwise. The terms of use and relationship between you and Bartercrats are governed by the laws of Lagos State, Nigeria. Any claims against Bartercrats must be submitted under the Lagos State Law. The terms of use can be amended at any time and will be effective after 30 days of amendment. Continued use of our services acknowledges your acceptance of the terms.

Fees and Commissions
The fees and commission we charge for using our Services are listed on our fee and commission page. We may change our fees, or introduce new fees and commission from time to time by posting the changes on Bartercrats membership portal in advance. You may close your account without penalty before such change come into effect.

If you are bartering goods or services for reward points and you are the Offeree (like the buyer), you are required to have sufficient reward point balance in your Bartercrats account (wallet) to cover the agreed reward points for the good or service and the Bartercrats fee. You are liable for transaction commission arising out of all transactions made using Bartercrats portal, even if transaction is finalised and exchange of goods or services is done outside Bartercrats portal.
If you are bartering good or service for reward points and you are the Offeror (like the seller), you are liable for transaction commission arising out of all transactions made using Bartercrats portal, even if transaction is finalised and exchanged of good or service is done outside Bartercrats portal.
There is a charge for this category of service; the charge or fee is x% of the total Bartercrats reward points at the point of exchange.
Goods or services will not be exchanged until account is settled and the Offeror confirms reward point credit transfer alert.
The Offeror cannot use the accrued credit within 48 hours after a deal is completed to allow the Offeree to confirm receipt of good or service. If the Offeree does not register any dispute about the good or service received after 48 hours of confirmation (Close deal) of the receipt of good or service, it is assumed that both parties are satisfied and therefore forfeit all rights to seek refund.

If you are bartering goods for goods or service for service, you are required to have sufficient reward point balance in your Bartercrats account (wallet) to cover the agreed reward points for the goods or service and the fee & commission for Bartercrats. You are liable for transaction commission arising out of all transactions made using Bartercrats portal; even if transaction is finalised and exchange of good or service is done outside Bartercrats portal.
If you are bartering goods for goods OR service for service and you are the Offeror, you are liable for transaction commission arising out of all transactions made using Bartercrats portal; even if transaction is finalised and exchange of good or service is done outside Bartercrats portal. There is a fixed fee or commission for this category of service.

Goods or service will not be listed or published on Bartercrats portal until account is settled and the Offeror confirms agreement with the commission to be deducted from his/her account. If the Offeree does not register any dispute about the good or service received after 48 hours of confirmation of the receipt of good or service, it is assumed that both parties are satisfied and therefore forfeit all rights to seek a refund.

When listing an item, you agree to comply with the rules for listing and selling practices policy and that:
• you are responsible for the accuracy, content and legality of the item listed and agree to list in accordance with the prohibited and restricted Items policy;
• your listing may not be immediately published until it is reviewed and approved by the Bartercrats team. Bartercrats will not publish any content that violates its policies and terms of use.

When exchanging or swapping (buying) an item or service, you agree to comply with Bartercrats policies and terms of use and that:
• It is your responsibility to read and understand full item listing before making commitment to exchange;
• Offers are not legally binding until an agreement is reached when the Offeror and Offeree agree on a deal; the Offeree successfully places an order on the Bartercrats platform; and the Offeror confirms the offer or counter offer.

Exchange of goods and services’ deal transactions that are concluded on Bartercrats’ portal are expected to be done in person, however where this is not feasible, exchange may be done through delivery service (Bartercrats exchange centres/points) for a fee or commission.
Whichever option is used, it is the responsibility of everyone involved in the transaction to:
• agree on a safe, convenient and suitable time and location for the exchange to take place
• agree and settle the collection fee payment
• confirm that the goods’ condition is acceptable to you before you accept the goods and formally close the deal on the Bartercrats’ portal. Please report to Bartercrats if the goods are not acceptable to you and avoid unnecessary confrontation with the vendor.

Privacy Policy
Our privacy policy has been developed to respect Bartercrats user’s privacy. Please spend time reviewing the Privacy Policy below. By using our website and any associated apps or services, you are also agreeing to the terms of our privacy policy.

Personal information we gather
The information we receive, gather and host helps us improve Bartercrats’ user experience. Some of the information we collect include account and profile information, listing and transactions, website and mobile telephone data.
Account and profile information: Personal information may be required to use our services, such as a valid email address, telephone number, name and
password. Any additional information shared by users during the creation of user accounts and profile setup are their responsibility, care should be taken to prevent the
exposure of sensitive information for public viewing. The creation of user profiles through third-party such as social media (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) may provide
additional information that must be approved by the third-party service provider.

Your bank account or payment card information will not be collected or stored on the Bartercrats database. It is your responsibility to exercise discretion in sharing this
information while perfecting a deal on Bartercrats portal.

Listing and deals: Information about goods and services on offer, including associated personal information provided by the users while uploading the goods
for listing on the Bartercrats portal, will be visible to the public and may be stored to enable us provide suitable services. It is the responsibility of the user to ensure
sensitive information, like location or address, are not included on the information provided.

Promotions and advertising: Personal information may be collected from promotional content and advertisement we sponsor on our site.

Data Usage: We may automatically gather and store information from your browser relating to the use of our services, such as, IP address, requested pages, website usage frequency.

1. Use of information
For the provision of our services the information we collect and store may be used for the following purposes;
•To provide customer services, including to create and manage user accounts
•To enhance user experiences of the web portal
•To monitor, ensure and prevent abusive and fraudulent behaviour
•To create/tailor promotions and advertisement to the appropriate userss

User’s personal information will not be sold to third parties except with user’s explicit permission to do so. Non-personal information may be shared with third-parties. Other

•Personal information may be shared with government authorities when required and applicable by law

Users can edit and update part of their personal information through their user account edit page.
